O.M.G. part 2

OH MY GOSH, AARON AND I ARE PARENTS! :)

turns out, 1.5 days of bed rest and medicine to stop pre-term labor didn't work! i was admitted at the hospital thursday, may 27 for a possible water break. one test said my water had broke and another said it hadn't...so they wanted to monitor me for a few hours. they also checked me and i was still dilated to a 4, but was also now 100% effaced! My contractions started getting more frequent and more intense, but i still wasn't really feeling them. they moved me up to labor and delivery around 7 pm and started me on pitocin around 8ish. by 10 pm my contractions were really starting to become unbearable for me, so i asked for my epidural! (i was dilated to a 7) the epidural did sting a little, but almost instantly the pain was fading and it was wonderful! :) i kept saying that i didn't know how women did this without medicine and that it felt like my legs took an ambien :) anyway, by 1 am i was dilated to a 10 and ready to push! however baby woolsey still hadn't dropped as low as they wanted, so i did some pushing to get aj to move down a little...it was working, but not as much as the nurse wanted, so i just kept pushing. nurse kyla called my doctor around 4 and she got here in about 10-15 minutes and once she got here i was really pushing... the doctor realized that the baby was turned sideways so she started trying to move the baby and then realized that i apparently have a very pronounced tailbone and that baby aj was stuck around my tailbone area. so for about 2 hours i was pushing so hard! that plus doctor aggressively trying to move baby around with her hands and forceps was a little more than i could handle...it was pretty painful. my doctor didn't want to give up because baby was coming, but just couldn't get un-stuck from around the tailbone area, so finally at 5:45ish the decision was made to do an emergency c-section. baby aj was born at 6:06 am and weighed 6 pounds, 4 ounces (pretty big for a baby being born at 34 weeks!) and i'm sure you're all wondering...baby woolsey is a GIRL aaron and i couldn't believe that baby woolsey was a girl! so many people were convinced it was going to be a boy, so i guess without realizing it we had convinced ourselves that it was a boy, so we were so elated to learn that baby aj was in fact a GIRL! she was quickly swept away by the nicu nurses, since she was born 5 weeks early. we didn't really get to see her much and as i type this 26 hours after she was born, we still haven't gotten to hold her. i get to hold her this morning and i'm so excited! she was so traumatized by being stuck that when she came out her entire face/head and her left arm were completely purple from bruising. she looks so helpless in her incubator under the lights with all her tubes hooked up to her...poor thing!

we love her so much already and aaron and i still can't believe that we are really parents! :) wish us luck and send up many prayers as we learn and journey down the road of parenting...we can't wait!

pictures to come later...and no, baby girl woolsey doesn't have a name yet

O.M.G

so, i'm pretty sure this is the first time i've ever used O.M.G before...but i feel like this is an appropriate time to say 'OH MY GOSH!' if you look at our little baby ticker thing above, it states that we are 34 weeks 2 days pregnant. well, as of 3:30 today, i'm 4 centimeters dilated and baby aj is already extremely low and on the larger side...so, i'm being put on bed rest and i'm being given medicine to stop pre-term labor! i know!...we can't believe it either! she (my doctor) basically said that my body is farther along than women she's inducing this week! whoa! we are both a little shocked at the news...so please keep us in our prayers as we rapidly approach baby aj's arrival...we better get our butts in gear - we have a lot to do!

1,2,3

1. in spite of the terrible hail storm we had a couple of weeks ago, my hydrangeas look awesome! they look even better than last year! and this is the first year that my white ones are blooming...who knew i had a little green thumb

2. we had our breast feeding class this weekend and aaron couldn't have been more excited to go (insert sarcasm) i thought the class was very beneficial and overall very encouraging for a mom who wants to try nursing. aaron even got to practice...

3. we are 34 weeks pregnant today! whoa nelly...where has the time gone?!? we are going to be parents in roughly a month! ahh!

Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers — which will help regulate her body temperature once she's born — are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you've been nervous about preterm labor, you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.

awesome

when your house already looks like this:

you don't exactly get excited when church gets canceled because of another potential hail/tornado storm...

aww hail...

baby aj survived his/her first hail storm! it just past and i have to say, i've lived here my whole life and have never experienced something like this. it was crazy! aaron and i were loving it until...

all of our north facing windows busted! our dining room and our bedroom busted through double payned windows into our house! the dogs and i went into the nursery and stuck it out while aaron hurried to get towels down...it all happened so fast! aaron just made a quick run to home depot to get some ply wood to patch up our windows...but the good news is, is that if insurance covers all this - we'll get new windows and maybe new garage doors...all of which face the street which will only help our curb appeal! :) all is well here - praise Jesus!

nursery (kind of) part 4

i'm on a roll! this is our latest baby purchase...

nursery part 3

i finally ordered a crib! aaron has been on me since 20 weeks to get a crib...so here we are at almost 33 weeks and i just ordered my crib...sheesh

i have been seriously looking for a crib for about a month and of course all the cribs i have fallen in love with are $900+ and i just couldn't bring myself to spend that much on a crib and i also couldn't bring myself to buy one that i didn't like, just because it was cheaper. we are going to be using this furniture for many years, so i wanted to like it! i'm going to change out the knobs on the dresser so it doesn't look so contemporary... i can't wait for them to get here! 2-4 weeks! if you have children, you should definitely check out the store where we got these (its a branch of crate and barrel)....so cute!

32 weeks

where has the time gone?!?! am i really 32 weeks pregnant?!?! i'll let you be the judge...

By now, your baby weighs 3.75 pounds and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in your uterus. You're gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to your baby. In fact, she'll gain a third to half of her birth weight during the next 7 weeks as she fattens up for survival outside the womb. She now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). Her skin is becoming soft and smooth as she plumps up in preparation for birth.

we're home! we spent 8 days in hawaii, were home for 2 days (i was sick with a sinus infection), and then we headed to indiana for 4.5 days! phew...we went to maui for a babymoon/4th anniversary trip a little early :) we went with my parents and we met up with some family friends who were there celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. we all had a wonderful time; it was so relaxing and enjoyable! the 8 hour plane ride being 7.5 months pregnant is another story...
